What, Mom?

Oh.  OK.  Happy NEW Year!  We hope that all of you have a safe and nip filled holiday!

Inquiring minds have been wanting to know, what’s up with the foster situation at Casa Furry Bambino?

Well, I am pleased to inform you that little Mark joined his furrever home on December 18, 2009!  Wow, it’s already been two whole weeks with no fosters at Casa Furry Bambino!  So we Furry Bambinos thought that we should make a post about Mark.

Mark liked to nap.  Here he is borrowing my Gizzy Quilt.

Mark also liked to sleep in The Blue Bed.  The Blue Bed originally belonged to Clyde.

… and then Mark yawned real big.

Of all the places that Mark liked to nap, his FAVORITE spots involved Dad.  This is Mark and Dad cuddling on the big comfy chair.

Mark was OK as fosters go.  I am happy to report that Mark has his own blog now, called a Tabblo!  Well, OK, he shares it with his Dad, but still!  Check it out for some cool photo essays and a movie.  Mark’s first post was made as soon as he got to his new home.  Now that’s what I call efficient!

Watch how Luke (grey) and Matthew (black) show that nothing can stop them from escaping!  I love to watch them through the fence.  I have learned many new tricks from them that I will work on implementing soon.

and now, for the big announcement! it is time to announce the winners of the very first bambino contest!

to celebrate the anniversary of our adoption, we decided to hold a contest. over the last several posts, you have left your name in the comments to enter.  over thirty famblies entered! woo-hoo! mom and dad helped with typing the names, printing the names, and then cutting up the paper into strips with each fambly’s name on a strip. then daddy folded the names, and put them into one of our crunchies bowls. we gave the bowl of names a good sniff.

panda bear oversaw the selection of the winner for the coventry cats shopping spree. ahem, and now, the winner of the coventry cats shopping spree is: kilroy the love beastie!!!

hoo-ray!! congrats!! (ewww… panda bear ran off and ate the strip of paper with kilroy’s name on it.)

next, padre oversaw the selection of the winner of the donation to a U.S. animal shelter or animal rescue group of their choosing. and the winner is: kellie the orange cat!!!

Something happened to our blog!  Mommy noticed it this morning and was a little worried. 

Daddy is our tech dude, so he took a look at it closer and found that something was all broke.  So Daddy worked his magic … and really @$&#ed it up good! 

Now all our pictures are gone and we are sad.  I’m going to bite Daddy when he gets home because he did something he shouldn’t have —  I know it!  I know it!  I know it! 

He promises to get all our pictures back in place as soon as he can.  He better!  We will all gang up on Daddy tonight and give him the bitey! 

Daddy told me he has to “back up” more often so this doesn’t happen in the future.  Why does Daddy need to back up?  Why doesn’t he just go forward?  Beans are weird. 

Gotta sharpen my teeth for the bitey party tonight! 

Panda Bear out.

Now for the update on recent events at Casa Cabán.  This has been a tough week. Mommy and Daddy went back to work on Monday, leaving The Furry Bambinos home alone. We managed OK without them, but we missed them and gave them a warm welcome when they got home.

Then Daddy got sick with “the flew”. I dunno why they call it that, cause he sure wasn’t doing any flying like a birdie. And he was not as much fun as Mommy was when she was sick. Daddy went to work instead of staying home and sleeping on the sofa with us.

Then on the way home from work yesterday, The Room That Moves got sick. Apparently its scarf fell off while Daddy was driving to go get Mommy. The Room That Moves made awful loud noises. Daddy said that he had to call Triple A. They came and toad The Room That Moves to the fix-it place.  I didn’t realize Triple A used toads.

Panda Bear? 

Yes, Dad?

I said the muffler fell off, not the scarf.  And the car was towed, not toad.

Muffler, scarf, frogs, toads, whatever.

And Daddy says The Room That Moves will purr like a kitten once it’s all fixed.  I dunno about that.

Mommy took the Rectangular Box With Zippers out the front door.  I tried to go out the door when she did, but she pushed me back inside, said “bye, bye” and then closed the door.  I was very sad about this until Meerkat started chasing me and then I forgot all about it. 

Daddy came home a little later in the day and was happy to see us.  I wasn’t sure he knew Mommy had packed up her Rectangular Box With Zippers, but then he said we have a “swinging bachelor pad”, and that we would be “batching it” with him for the night until Mommy came back. 

Daddy made us a special dish of Stinky Goodness and then I fell asleep on Mommy’s chair in the eating room. 

I don’t know how long I sleeped, but when I woke up, all the lights were off and the door to Mommy and Daddy’s sleeping room was closed.  I heard Daddy snoring and I tried scratching the door to get in, but he didn’t open the door. 

It wasn’t much of a “swinging bachelor pad” if you ask me. 

The next morning Mommy wasn’t around, but Daddy fed us like usual and snuggled us.  Then we went to sleep.  Mommy came in the door later in the day.  Yay!  She came back!  She had the Rectangular Box With Zippers, plus some other boxes and she hugged us and petted us and snuggled us and said how happy she was to see us and that she “missed us so much”.

So naturally we have been following Mommy around to make sure she doesn’t make another such disappearance. She and Daddy have gone to “work” but they come home together, so that is OK. Mommy explained that they have to visit a place called “work” so that they have green papers to trade at the store for our stinky goodness.

But we have been hot on her trail while she is at home…

Anyway, there have been lots of fun things going on around here lately!  Padre and Meerkat want to tell some of the stories too, so we agreed to each tell some of the things that have been going on here.

First, Mom got real busy rearranging things in the house.  She called it “tidying up”.  Well, it amounted to lots of moving things around, which of course, we had to sniff and snoopervise.  It was kind of entertaining to watch her scurry around and go up and down the stairs a lot.

Mom put newspapers into paper bags, which I climbed inside of to sniff, and to hang out in.  Mom kept adding more newspapers to the bags until I could not fit inside anymore.  And then Daddy carried the paper bags to the end of the driveway.  Daddy refers to the end of the driveway as “the curb”.  I have never personally gotten to sniff the curb, but it sounds interesting.  Then some big-ass very large truck drove by and took the paper bags away.

Now, all was well and good with the tidying up, until Mom and Daddy took out the gigantic Rug-Sucking Monster, and they took turns dragging it all over the house!  I was beginning to doubt my belief that this is a wonderful home, but I remembered that other kitties in the blogosphere also mentioned that their humans also utilize such a monster from time to time.

All this tidying up was apparently due to an impending “visit” from Aunt Patty and her boyfriend Chris.  Aunt Patty and Chris came to visit to help Mom celebrate becoming very old.  Mom said that she is now older than Jack Benny.  I dunno what she’s talking about.

Aunt Patty and Chris brought us a gift to celebrate Mom becoming very old.  It is called a mobile.  Aunt Patty said that the three kitties represent The Three Furry Bambinos!  Here is a photo of the mobile:

Daddy hung it from the ceiling fan thingy in the kitty feeding room.  I like to circle it and study it and think of ways to get it down.

Aren’t we cute together?

Aunt Patty saw some of the juicy friendly looking squirrels dining outside the back door (Mom and Dad feed the squirrels every morning).  Aunt Patty thought that the squirrels were rather, well, uh, rotund.  She said the squirrels looked as big as beavers!  She called the squirrels the “beaver squirrels”.  Here is a photo of one of the squirrels enjoying his or her breakfast:

sometimes you might forget to come read what we have been up to.  so, daddy made it so that you can now get an email update every time we post a new entry here. 

he says you’ll just get an email every time we write something, and you’ll get it the next day, sometime in the early morning.
