Welcome to Casa Furry Bambino for my birthday party! Make yourselves at home!

We have stinky goodness, crunchies, and beverages! Panda Bear has graciously offered to serve as bartender! (ID required for adult kitty beverages, please!) Of course, there will be lots of nip! I am so delighted that you could come to my party!

Mom planted cat grass for us a few weeks ago, so feel free to nom nom nom!

In honor of Earth Day, Mom is going to dig in the dirt outside. She says we can help! It is Spring here in northeast O-Hi-O, and the weather is supposed to be sunny and mild!

Great napping weather! (Isn’t it always great napping weather if you’re a cat?)

Lots of interesting things to sniff in the back yard! Plus bird and squirrel watching!

Feel free to play Thundering Herds of Elephants! We have two sets of stairs – one to the basement, and one to upstairs. By the way, the powder room is in the basement.

If any of you choose to party into the evening, join us in the basement for Mouse Patrol! We will gather on the ledge at the top of the basement stairs at 8:55 pm EDT. Remember to keep your voices down, as we want to sneak up on the mousies!

Also today, my sister Cookie will be competing in Kitty Fight Club at The World According to Misha!

Photo: from Misha’s blog

Kitty Fight Club is a contest that pits two adorabubble kittens against each other for the title of cutest kitten! Cookie is nervous that she won’t get any votes at all!

Please vote for Cookie on Misha’s blog!

Sunshine Award! http://thefurrybambinos.com/meerkats-posts/sunshine-award http://thefurrybambinos.com/meerkats-posts/sunshine-award#comments Sat, 03 Apr 2010 19:27:43 +0000 http://thefurrybambinos.com/?p=1110 it is a bee-yoo-tiful sunny day here in northeast o-hi-o! happy spring to kitties in the northern hemisphere! the sun is out, the birdies are chirping, and the lenten mice are back (but that’s a whole other post)!

the flowers are bloomifying, and it’s warm enough to have windows and screen door open so we can sniff the fresh air!

just last week on thursday, it snowed! but then last friday was sunny and warm, so most of the snow meltified …

… except where there was too much shade, like along the tall fence.

but now, all the snow is gone, and it has been so warm that we actually set new records for the high temperature! it was 82 degrees F on thursday, and 86 degrees F on friday.

these temperatures are more typical of august, not april. normal highs here for this time of year are in the low 50’s, and it can snow here in april, like it did a few years ago on easter weekend.

to celebrate, here are some photos of spring from our garden. crocuses are one of the first things to bloom, so Mom loves them, which is why she plants so many.

these are yellow crocuses:

lavender crocuses:

white crocuses:

purple crocuses:

Mom says the best thing about living where the winters are so harsh is really appreciating spring! Mom is glad that we live where we can plant bulbs in the fall. when she plants them, she says “good night until spring” to the bulbs as she puts them into the ground.

mom and dad call this flower bed daffodil hill. (it’s not really a hill, just a raised flower bed.) it’s a reference to the famous Daffodil Hill in Lake View Cemetery.

more daffodils:

these are called blue hyacinths:

these are white hyacinths. Mom says they have the strongest scent of the different colors of hyacinths, which is why she likes the white ones.

it also seems appropriate to mention that our friend Monty from Monty Graycat Ponders Out Loud gave us this fabulous award: The Sunshine Award! Thank You Monty!  we are so humbled!

the rules for this award are: to accept this award you must pass it on to 12 other recipients and post their blog links along with the award and of course send a comment to them telling them how they have brought SUNSHINE to you.  we thought we would give it to six bloggers, in order to leave some others out there eligible to receive it.

1) It’s All Good

2) Fin

3) Tristan & Crikey

4) Cat Sitter in the City

5) Darling Millie

6) Momo

Wildlife Sanctuary at Casa Cabán http://thefurrybambinos.com/critters/wildlife-sanctuary-at-casa-caban http://thefurrybambinos.com/critters/wildlife-sanctuary-at-casa-caban#comments Tue, 08 Apr 2008 10:14:20 +0000 http://thefurrybambinos.com/critters/wildlife-sanctuary-at-casa-caban Here at Casa Cabán, Mom and Dad have what they call a “Wildlife Sanctuary” in the back yard. There are lots of animals to observe! Today, I thought I would introduce you to some of the animals we like to study.

Mom and Dad feed the birdies and squirrels. Mom and Dad put up this gate when they open the door to feed them. So, we get as close to the gate as we can. Here, we are on “Squirrel Patrol”.

Squirrel patrol!

Here is an opossum, AKA possum, on our back porch:

Our Pal Possum!

Mom thinks he’s cute. She says “he is one of God’s creatures after all”. We think he is kinda scary looking. And he’s bigger than us, so we’re keeping our distance.

Uh-oh! Possum can smell that we

This is a squirrel watching me watch him:

The squirrell is spying on us!

This is a different squirrel taking a bath while standing on a fence post. Impressive balance!

Squirrel has to bathe, too!

These are butterflies in the back corner of the yard, where Mom and Dad planted daffodils:

Butterflies!

I hope you enjoyed your tour of the Wildlife Sanctuary at Casa Cabán!

Spring May Be Here … http://thefurrybambinos.com/exploring/spring-may-be-here http://thefurrybambinos.com/exploring/spring-may-be-here#comments Mon, 07 Apr 2008 13:31:36 +0000 http://thefurrybambinos.com/exploring/spring-may-be-here Well, our snow has finally all meltified! (Unlike Millie who still has some snow in New Hampster.) And there are tasty-looking birdies chirping outisde! And there are even some dainty-looking flowers that are starting to grow. So maybe Spring is finally here in O Hi O (as Parker would say)!

See, here is some evidence. The yellow flowers are crocuses, and the green thing may be a hyacinth (it’s hard to tell now):

Crocus pops up!

This weekend, the sun was shining, the sky was blue, and it felt warm for the first time in a really long time! Daddy and Mommy opened the windows for us to get a good sniff.

Looking out on the world

Luckily, there is one window pane for each of us.

One window for each of us!

On Saturday and Sunday, Mommy took us outside into the back yard. We are not allowed to go outside unless we are on our harnesses and leashes, and Mommy or Daddy has to be with us at all times. I enjoyed sitting on the back porch, taking in the sights, sounds, and aromas.

Outside in the fresh air!

Our harnesses feel kinda funny, so when we got outside, we just kinda sat still and sniffed.

Gotta start working on my tan!

We did get to listen to the birdies and see them flying around, so we had a great time!

Aaaah! Take this thing off me! Let me back inside! Help!

Except for Meerkat, who seemed to be a little bit anxious the whole time. The look on her face and the position of her ears says it all… “Let me back inside!”
