Love Shnugglies

So that means it is time to party!

Today is the Third Anniversary of the Adoption of me, Padre,

and my adopted siblings Panda Bear

and Meerkat.

We are very grateful for a lot of things:

PAWS, Public Animal Welfare Society, in the Cleveland Ohio area, that rescued all of us from uncertain futures.  I, Padre, wound up in a kill shelter before being saved by PAWS. Panda Bear and Meerkat were born under a porch and got sick with eye infections (calici virus). That is why Panda Bear only has one eye, and Meerkat has scarring in her right eye that sometimes looks like a glowing eye when you look at her.

Loving parents.

Safe warm shelter.

Food and water.

Even V-E-T care when we need it.

And of course, great furriends like all of you!

So please, make yourselves at home! There is food, water, niptinis, milk for the kittens, toys, stairs for Thundering Herds of Elephants games, windows for bird and squirrel watching, cat beds for your napping pleasure, and companionship!  Let’s party all weekend!

Greetings! Thanks to all of you who purrticipated in the Bird and Squirrel Watching event! It was so nice to meet so many kitteh and woofie furriends through the Cat-O-Lympics! You may continue to enter as long as you’d like. Just leave us a comment and / or use Mr. Linky to tell us about your entry!

We had a multi-way tie for the Gold in the Bird and Squirrel Watching event! Give yourself each a Gold Medal. We adapted Katie’s Human Glogirly’s badge, so here is the Official Gold Medal for Bird and Squirrel Watching to proudly display on your blog:

Now, on to our entries!

*** Synchronized Snoozing hosted by The Island Cats ***

Meerkat and Padre are our resident love cats. Here are their two entries. The first photo shows them spooning in a dainty cat bed. Note Padre’s leg placement around Meerkat. This should definitely be worth additional cute points.

The second photo shows Padre and Meerkat cuddled together in a Ying-Yang with a Spooning Maneuver.

Also in Synchronized Snoozing, this is Panda Bear and Cookie, taken last summer when Cookie and I were still itteh bitteh! Note Cookie’s hind leg placement on Mommy’s gardening shoe, displaying added difficulty.

*** Balance Beam hosted by Fin of Housecat Confidential ***

This is Matthew, one of the foster kittens who stayed here last Fall. (Hah! Fall! Get it? What a great pun!) Matthew was the most talented of the foster kittehs at the Balance Beam!

Panda Bear often gets asked if he has trouble with balance or depth perception because he only has one eye. Well, take a look at his entry for Balance Beam, and you will see that PB has grace and style on the apparatus! This photo was taken at the V-E-T, so PB deserves extra difficulty points for the heightened level of anxiety!

*** Boxing hosted by Sparkle the Designer Cat***

These are our entries for Boxing. Here I am, posed graciously in the remnants of a holiday gift box.

*** Competitive Napping, hosted by Huffle Mawson ***

This is my entry. I am carefully color coordinated with the rocking chair, with my tail tucked under my chin like a Young LadyCat.

Also in Competitive Napping, this is Cookie’s first of two entries. Note the extreme cuteness of Cookie when she was an itteh bitteh kitteh!

Cookie’s second entry in Competitive Napping displays a high level of difficulty, as Cookie is shown sleeping in a PTU! Note the concentration which Cookie required in order to actually SLEEP in a prisoner transport unit!

*** Mile Long Machine Kleen, hosted by Tygana of One Cats Nip ***

Panda Bear and Cookie are entering as a team in this competition. Note the care with which Panda Bear washes Cookie’s head.

That concludes our Cat-O-Lympics entries!

And another big Thank You to Fin of Housecat Confidential for organizing the entire 2010 Cat-O-Lympics games!

today is mommy’s birthday!  she stayed home from “work” today to enjoy our company!  hooray!  when she got up this morning, i chirped for her! then, mommy called gramma and grampa (her mommy and daddy). mommy always calls them at 9:31 am on her purrthday to wish them a happy mother’s day and happy father’s day.

daddy helped us shop for cards and gifts for mommy. today i will show you what we gived her.  in this picture, padre is sniffing our birthday cards and gifts.

panda bear is protecting mommy’s gifts and cards.  (well, i think he’s actually squishing them.)

i checked to make sure that daddy wrapped everything all good.

here i am with all the cards we gave to mommy.  starting on the left is my card to mommy, next to that is panda bear’s card, then padre’s card, then a special card sent from the rainbow bridge from mohawk and clyde, and the card on the right is from the outdoor critters that mommy feeds (mr. chipmunk, mr. mousie, the squirrel septuplets, mr. skunkie, lil’ opossum, and da birdies).

panda bear’s card looks just like him!  with one eye and a goatee!

i gave mommy sticky notes with my picture on them. well, not really my picture, but another kitty that looks just like me.

this is the magnet we gived mommy.  she put it on the cold box!

mommy liked this gift best of all – a great big hug!  (you can tell from my expression that i am just humoring her cause it’s her birfday.)

check out the great scarf that we gived to mommy!  it’s a cat blogosphere scarf!

mommy loves her scarf!

panda bear looks very stylish in mommy’s scarf, too.

now, some entertainment for mommy: a quick game of bitey!

daddy calls mommy ladybug (ewww) so he gave her this ladybug toy that moves all by itself.

panda bear decided to give the ladybug the bitey.

that’s all for now! off to nap to conserve energy for tonight’s activities: more bitey, and maybe a round of mouse patrol.  oh, and maybe we will sing to mommy.

on friday, mommy packed the rectangular box with zippers (that we like to use as a scratching post) and put it into the room that moves. mommy gave us lots of love shnugglies and darn near sucked all the fur off our heads giving us “kisses” (blech!) and “hugs”.

and then she left us all alone!

well, daddy did show up after awhile. but no mommy!

so we spent the weekend just with daddy. it was fun, but we still missed mommy.

luckily, mommy came home yesterday afternoon. she started in with the hugs and kisses all over again!

mommy explained that she was helping aunt patty shop for a special dress. mommy said that patty’s boyfriend chris loves aunt patty very much, and to show his love for her, he gave her a very special present.

he gave her a rock.

i just don’t get humans sometimes. why would a rock be a sign of love? some primo catnip, now that’s a sign of true love. but a rock?

mommy said that aunt patty’s rock is very pretty. and that they had a fun time shopping for the dress. they found a beautiful dress.

oh, and another thing. that when chris gave aunt patty the rock, that means that he isn’t her boyfriend anymore. now he’s called her “fee-yawn-say”. didn’t i tell you that humans are weird?

sorry that we haven’t been blogging much lately. mommy has had a busy week and was usually too tired after work to help us blog.

like our friend millie, i was shy at first around mom and dad. while my littermate panda bear and adopted brother padre were all outgoing and friendly with the humans, i held back at first.

then last month mommy was sick for a whole week! so she stayed home from work, and i got a chance to get to know her better. and actually, she’s ok as humans go. when she napped in bed for a whole day, i kept her company and napped with her.

it was during that week that i discovered that mommy has a very comfortable lap! and, mommy is very good at giving pets and scritches and love shnugglies. (a love shnuggly is an extended pet and scritch-fest.)

Meerkat schnuggling with Mom

so then i started approaching mommy and daddy more readily. to their credit, they waited for me to be ready for when i asked for attention. i love my mommy and daddy very much. now, i like to follow mommy and daddy around the house: upstairs, downstairs, to the basement while mommy does laundry or daddy scoops our poop boxes.

i am very lucky to have such a great furrever home and such great adoptive parents. purrrrrrrrrrrr.
