First of all, we want to apologize for not visiting everyone as often as we would like. Something about Mommy having new reespawnsa, new responsobul, new duties at work.  She has been furry furry busy lately, and has had less time to help us blog.  Even when she comes home from work, she has been doing stuff for her job WHEN SHE SHOULD BE HELPING US BLOG!  We hope that she will get back to normal soon!  We miss reading about how all of you are doing!

Second of all, we were recently tagged by Bear and Shadow to do the “Seven Useful Things” Meme!  We couldn’t decide who got to post this, so we decided Mom said we have to do this as a joint post.

Padre’s Useful Things That I Do to Help Mom and Dad:
1) I say “Bless You” whenever anyone sneezes.  Each time.  This is especially important to do if Mom or Dad is home, but the other one isn’t around to bless them.

2) I help Mom fall asleep at night by joining her on the bed.  Then when she’s good and drowsy, I sit by the door and ask her to be let out.

3) I often snoopervise when Dad scoops our poop boxes.

4) I greet Mom and Dad when they come home from “work” (whatever that is).

5) I inspect all shopping bags that come into the house.

6) I do daily Squirrel Patrol, Bird Patrol, and recently, Chipmunk Patrol. I spend most of the day looking out the big tall windows and keep an eye on the wildlife.

7) I like to purr whenever Mom or Dad comes near me.  It makes them feel very special to be loved by a Great Grey Kitty like me!

Panda Bear’s Useful Things:
1) I perform the very important role of Life Guard whenever Mom is in the human litter box room. Especially if she is in the rain maker thing. I push open the door of the human litter box room and check on her.

2) I help Dad keep the office just the way he likes it. If something unusual happens and the room starts to look too tidy, then I help restore it to its “natural state” (see photo below).

daddy

3) I help Mom eat breakfast. I finish the last of the milk in Mom’s cereal bowl for her.

4) I am a Big Help when Dad changes our poop boxes. I sniff all the materials, make sure that Dad cleans the empty boxes to my liking, and inspect the new litter immediately as it is placed into the box.  Occasionally, Dad is too slow, and I need to make a deposit before he is all done.

5) I say hello to Mom and Dad when they get home from wherever they go all day. I sit in the front window and meow at them. Once they come in the front door, I greet them at the door.

6) I am on regular Neighborhood Watch duty.  I sit at the front window and make sure that all is right with our world.

7) I am friendly and cuddly and lovable! I keep Mom and Dad entertained with my antics!  I am definitely the comic relief around here!

meerkat’s useful things:
1) i catch bugs, like moths and spiders. i deadify them so that mommy and daddy will be safe.

2) i help mommy when she is at the computer. i keep her company and roll around and help her type.

3) sometimes i snoopervise when dad scoops our poop boxes.

4) i am the head food taster here at casa cabán. when mommy or daddy is preparing our meals, i give the food a taste to make sure that it is acceptable.

5) most evenings, i am on mouse patrol to make sure that no mousies are in the house!

6) i do performance artwork on the furniture when my soft paws claw covers fall off.

7) i am friendly and cuddly! i like to flop down at mommy’s or daddy’s feet and ask them to pet me. it makes them smile and feel loved!

OK, now we need to tag some kitties to continue this Meme. We tag:

Kelly Cat, Lizzie, Caitie, and Nicky from It’s All Good

Parker, Powder, Puff, and Rudy from Perfectly Parker

it was refreshing to see that all the kitties understood what i was saying in my post on monday. for the humans who just didn’t get it, i will be kind enough to translate for you:

rooty, binky, and betty, you all were correct. i wanted advice on ways to keep my pesky brother panda bear away from me when i want to enjoy a good catnip bananer, or play with a mousie that i caught, without him butting in.  my girlfriend tammy faye recommended swinging a dead chicken over my head three times.  quasi said that he would help by bringing the dead chicken, but that i would need to bring the rope to swing it with.  victor tabbycat, max, and tybalt agreed that this plan should work. kilroy the love beastie added that putting the bitey on panda bear might help, in case panda bear decides to eat the chicken.

queen snickers expressed an interest in doing her own typing as well. she posed an important question about ways to keep the keyboard keys from sticking:

Very interesting! I trying my own too, but the keys seem to lock up on me. How do you prevent this??

i recommend checking to see if your mommy has installed the evil software “pawsense”.  basically, when installed on a computer, it will sense the different style of typing distinctive to us kitties, and then freeze up. according to the pawsense web site:

PawSense is a software utility that helps protect your computer from cats. It quickly detects and blocks cat typing, and also helps train your cat to stay off the computer keyboard.

if you are using a pc, i recommend that you uninstall the pawsense software. go to the start menu, select “settings”, then “control panel”, then “add or remove programs”. a dialog box will appear. scroll through the list to select pawsense, and then click on the “change/remove” button. all gone!

pawsense is not available for macintosh computers, so if you are using a mac, like i do for most of my blogging, then something else must be the problem.

if pawsense is not the problem, then try shifting your weight from one paw to another more frequently. try holding keys down for not quite as long. let me know how it works for you!

purrrrrrrrss and happy typing! 🙂

Hi Efurryone!  We want to wish all of you a very Happy Father’s Day!

We love our Daddy very much!  He feeds us, plays with us, and scoops our litter boxes.  We are very grateful to have such a wonderful and loving Daddy!  This is a picture of our Daddy:

Padre on David

Padre, Meerkat, and I pooled our spending money and asked Mommy to help us get a really cool gift for Father’s Day!  We got him a remote controlled electronic mousie!

Daddy really liked our gift, but unfortunately, the electronic mousie only goes in circles.  How disappointing!  Daddy said that he would try to fix it this afternoon.  If that doesn’t work, Mommy said that they would exchange it for another one.

We want to wish all the Daddies (and the single Mommies) a Happy Father’s Day!

Today is our good friend Miss Tammy Faye’s birthday!  She is celebrating her 9th birthday!  Mom is good friends with Tammy Faye’s Mom, Miss Deb.  Miss Deb visits us and feeds us when our Mom and Dad are away.

This is a recent photo of Tammy Faye, taken in April at Passover.  Tammy’s human brother Tim took this photo.  We think that Tammy is a very pretty kitty.  Notice how Tammy is protecting her “baby” in this photo.

Tammy Faye April 2008

Tammy, we hope that you have a great birthday!  Mom took our birthday card that we all signed over to Tammy Faye’s house last night.  We hope you like it!

Love,

Padre, Panda Bear, Meerkat, Mom, and Dad

For Father’s Day we three Bambinos pooled our spending money and bought Daddy a really great gift.

We got him a remote controlled electronic mousie! This is a picture of the mousie charging up.

Charging up the mousie

But then when Daddy tried it out on Father’s Day morning, the mousie just went in circles. Meerkat and I are studying the mousie closely to try to diagnose the problem.

Mousie is stuck

Since Daddy had to leave to do his radio show (Sundays at noon), he didn’t have time to fix it then. But when Daddy got home, he pulled out his tools and set to work! As you can clearly see, Meerkat is helping.

Daddy adjusts the mousie to work gooder

This time, the mousie worked much gooder! Padre and I gave the mousie a good sniff.

Padre and Panda Bear take interest

Daddy had lots of fun controlling the mousie! Oh, and we liked playing with the mousie, too.

Panda Bear gets the mousie!

recently, we furry bambinos noticed that many kitties in the blogosphere have been hanging out in their official dorfington fish stanley qa tested forty paws ham-micks. well, we convinced mommy to order ham-micks for us!

our ham-micks arrived a week ago thursday. padre and i gave the box a good sniff.

Gotta sniff the box to see if its okay

mommy put the ham-micks together while we snoopervised. padre, panda bear, and i helped out by sorting the materials.

Meerkat checks the supplies

Materials Check for the new hammicks

panda bear also helped by taste-testing the ham-mick parts while mommy was putting them together.

Panda helps arrange the materials

padre performed a safety check to make sure that mommy put the ham-mick together right. padre rubbed his paws with gusto, while applying pressure on the fleece fabric. padre does not have front claws, so he did not scratch the fabric.

Padre tests the first hammick

then padre settled in to test its comfort level, and made sure that all the parts were securely in place.

next, mommy assembled the pink ham-mick. padre performed the safety check on the pink ham-mick too.

Padre Breaks in the Pink Hammick

last was the blue ham-mick. panda bear decided to put this one together himself. (mommy helped.) padre and i rested.

Panda Bear assembles his own hammick

and again, padre jumped right in and gave the blue ham-mick the padre rubdown and security check.

Padre checks out the blue hammick

unless you’re skeezix, pink is a girl kitty’s color, so the pink ham-mick is mine!!!

Meerkat in her girly hammick

although, the brown ham-mick also coordinates nicely with my furs.

after all this work, we took naps in the ham-micks. the ham-micks are extremely comfortabubble! we slept well!

Full hammicks

we love love love our ham-micks! thanks dorf and efurryone at forty paws! purrrrrrss!
