Hello world!  I’m finally settled!

Yesterday, I moved into my new forever home.  It seems to be a nice place, but I haven’t fully investigated it yet.

The servants who run it keep saying “you look just like Clyde!”  I finally figured out that “Clyde” was a previous resident who went to The Rainbow Bridge earlier this year.

I came to this new home in a roundabout way.  My previous ‘forever home’ turned out to be not-so-forever.  It wasn’t nice of them to remove my necktie and just leave me outside on someone’s doorstep!  Humans … will they ever learn? Next, I wound up in some sort of animal prison for awhile. I got rescued from prison “in the nick of time” to someone who called herself my “Foster Mom” and who kept rambling on about my PAWS.  She kept me in the basement for a few days while I just chilled out.

My Foster Mom took me to a brightly lit place that was rather small and restrictive for my rather large body.  I think it was a college for intelligent cats like myself because it was called PetSmart.  I was happy to have two rooms to spread out in, but the windows were rather annoying, and the neighbors were rather rambunctious.  Small humans would frequently tap on the window, too.  Jeez, it was hard to sleep!

Eventually, a nice man and woman came to play with me.  I thought “they’ll do”, and decided to choose them as my new servants.  So here I am.

Turns out a couple of young hoodlums also chose these servants at the same time.  I thought I’d have my own blog to report from, but apparently not.  The servants have indicated that I’ve got to share this space with Mr. Tuxedo and Ms. Brown-Tabby (they haven’t told me their names yet, and I’m content to keep to myself for now).  Oh, the bother.

I haven’t told the servants my name yet, but they’ll discover it soon enough.  For now, they’re calling me “Silver”.   More soon as things develop.

Woo-hoo!!!!  My sister and I have been adopted at last!!

On Monday the nice man and lady who visited us over the weekend came back to visit us again.  This time they did a lot of talking to the principals about getting us out of this boarding school and home schooling us instead.

My sister and I (and our six other brothers and sisters) were born in May under some lady’s porch.  Our Mama Cat protected us from the lady, but one day the lady noticed how sick we were and took us to a doctor to get better.  Then the doctor stole my eye and wouldn’t give it back!!  They said something about an “infection” and “blind” and the next thing you know, I have a permanent wink.  My sister was given all kinds of medications, and one of our other sisters had both of her eyes stolen!!  After being at the hospital, we stayed at a different lady’s house, inside this time, and she called herself “FosterMom”.

Just when we started to get comfortable at FosterMom’s house, she enrolled us in boarding school!!  We stayed there for a little while and then FosterMom came back to visit us and told us that we would soon be going to “our furrever home”.  I guess that meant that we would be graduating from boarding school.

This nice man and lady came to visit us and they played with us and then we got ready to graduate.  For the graduation ceremony, the man and lady put a very small portable room out for us to see.  My sister and I walked right in to investigate!  How were we to know that they would lock the door behind us?  But now we know for next time…

There was a big grey kitty that graduated from boarding school with us, and got adopted by the nice man and lady.  Luckily he got his own portable room to himself, as there wasn’t any room left in ours.

All of us let the man and lady know we were not happy about the cramped quarters.  The next thing you know, it was very dark and it felt like the whole world was moving!  After a while, the world stopped moving, and the man and lady carried the portable rooms into their house.

The man and the lady let out the big grey kitty first and let him explore.  Sister and I complained about this grave injustice, and eventually we got let out too.

Wow, are there a lot of places to explore and play here!  They even have two sets of stairs for us to play Thundering Herd of Elephants!!  And there are even these really cool hurdles between some of the doorways for me to get lots of practice with my high jump!

So that’s the story of my life so far.  Luckily the nice man and lady have lots of computers here.  So I should not have much trouble getting onto the Internet to blog, what with Big Grey Kitty and Sister also wanting to blog.

I think we’re gonna like it here.

Well, the servants man and lady left us all alone again yesterday. I have no idea where they went, but they this did this on Tuesday, too. After a long time they showed back up, so I wasn’t too worried.

I hung out upstairs and looked out the window in the room where they sleep. After awhile, that got dull, so I jumped down and looked around for something to do.

I wandered into the room that they call “The Mohawk Shrine”. Apparently “Mohawk” is another former resident who has also gone to The Rainbow Bridge.

Cool! The computer was still on, in sleep mode. So I jumped on the desk and attacked the mouse to wake up the computer. I surfed the web for awhile, and discovered that there are lots of other kitties who like to blog, too. I bookmarked a bunch of cool blogs to read regularly. I am so glad I took that blogging class while I was at the college for cats.

Then I got sleepy, so I went to take a nap downstairs.

As usual, I did my best “happy to see you again” song and dance when the man and lady got back from wherever they went all day. When the lady went upstairs, she noticed that the computer was awake. She mentioned something to the man about not understanding why the computer was awake because she did not use it that morning.

D’oh! Forgot to set the computer back into sleep mode… Gotta be more careful next time…

hurrumph.  my brother wrote our entire life story already!  what a meanie!  i think i’ll go attack him.  i like to sneak attack him and roll around and nip him.

the humans in our new living place are nice.  i don’t want them to touch me unless i say it’s okay, so i run from them whenever they come near.  when mister human gets drowsy, i like to climb up with him and sleep next to him.  he treats me real nice and i let him rub my belly.

the big grey cat and i have an understanding.  you don’t come near me, and i won’t come near you.  he’s nice enough really, but we’re just staying out of each other’s way right now.  i found he doesn’t like sneak attacks like my brother does.

 Brother and Sister

i have explored this big playpen and found lots of places to sneak attack from.  the funnest places are under the big chairs and the footstool that has wheels.  i wait for my brother to walk by and then i ambush him!  the big grey cat doesn’t like my ambushes.

my brother and i like to play thundering herd of elephants up and down the stairs and around all the rooms of this living place.  there’s lots of room and i like it better than our little dorm rooms at the boarding school.

Apparently the lady human likes to give peace offerings to the outdoor animals. This morning, she set out peanuts, walnuts, and sunflower seeds. I was a bit puzzled when she started doing this, because I was hoping that she didn’t want me to eat that stuff. Luckily, she opened a can of stinky goodness for me.

When I got done eating, she let the hoodlums kittens out of the basement where they spent the night. The kittens and I are beginning to come to an understanding. I don’t like being ambushed, and I have been hinting that there WILL BE CONSEQUENCES if they don’t knock it off.

While the hoodlums kittens were eating, I ambled over to the big tall window and noticed that a squirrel had just showed up. I studied the squirrel intently, and then two more squirrels and a bunch of tasty looking tiny birds arrived as well. Mmm… birds…

Furry Bambinos on a squirrel hunt

Technically, according to my adoption papers, I am supposed to be an indoor only cat. I wonder if there would be any way to get the lady to start feeding the squirrels indoors…

Yesterday morning, the lady left but the man stayed home with us. We had a great time hanging out with him. For a human, he is particularly well-schooled in playing kitten games. He is much better at games than the lady.

First we played “Chase the Indoor Bird on a String”.

Then, the man turned on the television and let us watch Animal Planet, so we caught a rerun of Meerkat Manor.

Then the man let my sister and I play “Bite Each Other Until You Squeak”, and he did not try to break up our fun like the lady does!

Speaking of the lady, when she got home from “running errands” she brought us some more cans of stinky goodness, as well as some bouncy squishy balls to bat around. But best of all, she brought us this:

MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE!

Two Kalahari-Themed-Duplex-Cat-Cubes!! So even though she does not know much about how to play with a kitten, apparently she does know something about what a kitten wants. It took the man and lady awhile to figure out how to attach the two cubes together, and then we were in business! I figured out if you sit inside one of the cubes and spin in circles fast enough, you can tip the whole thing over sideways!

Big Grey Kitty kind of sniffed the Kalahari-Themed-Duplex-Cat-Cubes, and Sister took a few tentative tours, but was also largely unimpressed. So it looks like this great feat of human engineering will be MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE!!

In other news, the humans still haven’t figured out what our names are. For now, the man is calling me “nonononono (giggle)” and the lady is calling me “NO GET DOWN FROM THERE” and occasionally “STOP THAT”. Needless to say, none of these are my name.

We will clue them in soon enough. For now, it is great to ignore their attempts at discipline. If they don’t know my name, I don’t have to listen!
