greetings efurryone!  first of all, belated birthday wishes to our good friend Tammy Faye!!! please leave birthday wishes in our comments. we think Tammy Faye needs her own blog! if you think so too, say so!

in other news, mommy is taking a class where she is learning html.  she’s not smart like us furry bambinos, who already know all about html. mommy says that she likes her class a lot!  it is through the community college in our area. and daddy is very happy that mommy is taking the class, so she can stop bugging him with lotsa stoopid questions.

tonight, mom learned about a href tags.  like, duh!

since so many of you said that you liked the last cartoon i put on the blog, here is another cartoon that you might like. remember to hover your mouse over the cartoon for additional commentary by the author.

did you read the hover-text? seriously, go back and read it.

now, you will be able to appreciate this:

How Will The End Of Print Journalism Affect Old Loons Who Hoard Newspapers?

ha ha ha ha ha! wasn’t that funny? aunt patty sent this to mom. aunt patty majored in print journalism when she was in college. both mom and aunt patty have a tendency to have lotsa newspapers around. do your parents have lotsa newspapers lying around?

hey efurryone!  did you ever notice how lame our humans can be sometimes?  like how much they state the obvious?

here’s an example.  mom came up to me this morning and said “Meerkat!”

like, duh.

“Little girl!”  said dad.  um, yeah, i am a female feline.  and yes, i am petite.  sigh.

there is actually a great cartoon that summarizes this for all of us kittehs. (be sure to hover your mouse over the cartoon for additional commentary by the author.)

CAT PROXIMITY

Cat Proximity xkcd cartoon

unfortunately, mom saw this cartoon.  then she showed it to dad.

instead of taking the hint, and speaking to us like the intelligent beings that we are, now mom and dad are walking up to us kittehs, and saying (you guessed it):

“You’re a kitty!”

sigh.

do your humans also have this vocabulary problem when near you?

it is a bee-yoo-tiful sunny day here in northeast o-hi-o! happy spring to kitties in the northern hemisphere! the sun is out, the birdies are chirping, and the lenten mice are back (but that’s a whole other post)!

the flowers are bloomifying, and it’s warm enough to have windows and screen door open so we can sniff the fresh air!

just last week on thursday, it snowed! but then last friday was sunny and warm, so most of the snow meltified …

… except where there was too much shade, like along the tall fence.

but now, all the snow is gone, and it has been so warm that we actually set new records for the high temperature! it was 82 degrees F on thursday, and 86 degrees F on friday.

these temperatures are more typical of august, not april. normal highs here for this time of year are in the low 50’s, and it can snow here in april, like it did a few years ago on easter weekend.

to celebrate, here are some photos of spring from our garden. crocuses are one of the first things to bloom, so Mom loves them, which is why she plants so many.

these are yellow crocuses:

lavender crocuses:

white crocuses:

purple crocuses:

Mom says the best thing about living where the winters are so harsh is really appreciating spring! Mom is glad that we live where we can plant bulbs in the fall. when she plants them, she says “good night until spring” to the bulbs as she puts them into the ground.

mom and dad call this flower bed daffodil hill. (it’s not really a hill, just a raised flower bed.) it’s a reference to the famous Daffodil Hill in Lake View Cemetery.

more daffodils:

these are called blue hyacinths:

these are white hyacinths. Mom says they have the strongest scent of the different colors of hyacinths, which is why she likes the white ones.

On Thursday morning, my biological brother, Panda Bear, challenged me to a staring contest.  Panda has been in a mood recently, picking fights, mounting Caramel until she squeaks, and chasing me around the house.  (Yes, PB has been nootered, and Caramel has been spayed, but PB keeps climbing on top of her and biting her neck.  Gross.)

So when Panda Bear challenged me to a staring contest, I said,

Bring it on!

We got started in the living room.

After awhile, Panda Bear started caterwauling at me to try to intimidate me.  Even though he weighs about two pounds more than me, I know I can give him the smackdown.

So I kept on staring.

Next Panda Bear added the “paw lift” maneuver.  You know the one.  PB continued staring and caterwauling at me, and then lifted his right front paw off the floor and waved it around, in a feeble attempt to appear menacing.

I kept right on staring.

Eventually Panda Bear gave in, and turned away to blink.

I WON!

Some of you may think it was an unfair fight, what with Panda Bear having only one eye and all.  But I had to keep TWO eyes open while he only had to keep ONE eye open.

it was so furry nice of all of you to come to our party to celebrate the anniversary of our adoption!  we really appreciate your warm wishes, and hope that you all had as good a time as we did!

we all had a lot of fun, and perhaps a few of us overdid the partying.  not mentioning any names, but their initials are Padre.  he wound up completely trashed, as evidenced by this photo.  some cats just can’t hold their nip!

although i personally could not care less about about the apostles living upstairs behind the closed door, i know that many of you wanted to meet them, so we had sniffing opportunities for you.  the apostles even got into the party spirit.  that’s Joann with her itteh bitteh mouth open, and that’s Mark with the boa draped over him.  (Mom says this photo of Joann reminds her of the “Frances” the bear children’s stories by Russell and Lillian Hoban.  she says if you never read them as a kid, they are wonderful. go to the library or bookstore immediately.)

Matthew had fun batting the lamp cord around.

Luke had fun playing with a toy mouse, practicing his hunting skills …

… then napped in Mommy’s lap.

Panda Bear got all mellow and showed us his belly furs while resting on his Gizzy quilt.

that’s probably because he enjoyed a few of these first.  he says it was only water …

Cookie likes to climb the dining room chairs when playing.  Daddy calls her Teenage Mutant Ninja Cookie when she gets like this.  you can see the flame mark on her forehead very clearly in this photo.

caramel tried to play hide and seek, but she seemed to misunderstand the hide part.  kittens!  by the way, check out the floof on her tail!  she is becoming floofier every day.

and i had a great time playing with the trackball toy.  i just love it!

thanks again to all of you for stopping by and for the well wishes!

i’m supposed to tell you to check back soon, as dad is working on some movies of the bebbeh kittehs!

recently, mom and dad visited our furriends Clarence and Alabama while their parents were away.  our mom and their mom are friends, and they also work at the same place.

both Clarence and his sister Alabama are very friendly kittehs, and greeted our mom and dad at the door.

Clarence and Alabama also live with a woofie named Fritz.  but Fritz was away, so the kittehs got to enjoy some time to themselves.

Clarence is the handsome all black kitteh.  his parents also call him “Puma”.  you have to admit that he does resemble a puma, except he looks much friendlier.

Alabama is the pretty tabby lady cat.  she is very sweet.  both she and her brother enjoyed it when mom and dad gave them scritches and pets.

both Clarence and Alabama were very happy that our mom and dad visited and fed them.

after supper, mom and dad visited with Clarence and Alabama.  Clarence is one handsome ManCat!

mom worked out with Alabama, who decided that she did not like pilates.

we hope you enjoyed meeting our furriends!

if you give Cookie a mouse, she won’t let it go.  she won’t share it with the other kittehs.  she won’t follow the protocol here at casa furry bambino, which is to SHARE the mouse.  the protocol is that we each get a turn to play with the mouse, bat it around, carry it in our teeths, you know, rough it up a little.

instead, if you give Cookie a mouse, she won’t let it go.  when the other kittehs surround her asking for their turn, Cookie will hold onto the mouse and growl.

The moral to the story is don’t give Cookie a mouse.

in other news, we are ashamed to admit that we missed giving our friend Miss Tammy Faye a proper birthday greeting.  sorry that it’s late, but here’s wishing her the best!
