Hi Efurryone!!!  ::: waves paws excitedly :::

Today is the Anniversary of our Adoption Day!!!  You are never going to believe what we got as a present…

Mom and Dad gave us a CAR!!!

Panda Bear on Car

We Furry Bambinos have been here in our furrever home for exactly one year!!!  We are so happy to be here, that we decided a great way to celebrate would be to have a CONTEST and a PAR-TAY!

The CONTEST will be two drawings for prizes.  One prize will be an all-expenses paid shopping spree to Coventry Cats.  Panda Bear will do the shopping, based on your personal preferences.  Shopping spree amount to be determined, based approximately on the number of entrants, like $1 per entrant.

The other prize will be a donation to a U.S. shelter or rescue group of your choosing.  Amount of donation to be determined, based approximately on the number of entrants, like $1 per entrant.  The drawings will be on Wednesday, October 22 at 9:30 pm EDT.  Leave a note in the comments if you want to enter. Deadline to enter is 6:00 pm EDT tonight, Wednesday, October 22.

PAR-TAY starts at 9:00 am EDT, and lasts until the last kitty goes home.  All are welcome!  There will be toys and games!

In other news, it’s not too late to sign up for the Furry Bambino Contest!

One of the prizes will be a shopping spree to Coventry Cats.  I am going to go to Coventry Cats with Mom and Dad, and I will be your personal shopper.

The other prize will be a donation to a U.S. shelter or rescue group of your choosing.  Mom says that it has be a legitimate shelter, not something called “Padre’s Nip Rescue Fund” or “Meerkat’s Shelter for Wayward Toys”.

Just leave a comment that you want to enter, before Wednesday October 22 at 6:00 pm EDT.  (Stoopid new version of WordPress won’t let comments automatically show up anymore.  Even when you set it to do just that. At Microsoft, they would call that a “feature”.  Feh!  So that means after you submit your comment, we will approve it so it shows up.)

To celebrate our first anniversary of living here in our Furrever Home, there will also be a PAR-TAY at Casa Bambino on Wednesday, October 22!  We will be sure to have lots of fun things to do, like swinging from the chandelier or living room curtains, good food to eat, and great friends to see!

We Furry Bambinos are very grateful for the wonderful furrever home we have here. On October 22, it will be our First Adoption Anniversary, often referred to as a “Gotchaversary”.

To help celebrate, we decided to hold a contest. During our party, Mom and Dad will select a winner by drawing names from a hat (or food bowl, you get the idea).

There will be two prizes!

One prize is a “shopping spree” at our favorite cat specialty store, Coventry Cats. You may remember when I went to Coventry Cats myself for their 20th birthday party. If possible (Mom and Dad have to agree to this) I will personally select your items by going to Coventry Cats! There is also a “Canine Corner” section for woofies. But the store mostly focuses on cat stuff.

The other prize will be a donation to a pet rescue shelter of your choice. Umm, the shelter must be a legitimate U.S. shelter or rescue group, not something called “Padre’s Catnip Rescue” or “Meerkat’s Toy Shelter”.

Rules: If you would like to participate, leave your name in the comments. You don’t have to have a blog to enter. Cats, woofies, buns, hamsters, other furries are eligible. One entry per household per contest. So, this means that you can sign up for either or both contests. Exact amount of shopping spree and donation to be determined. Maybe based on the number of contestants, like $1 spree per entrant. It’s our contest and we can change the rules if we want to.

Drawing will be made on Wednesday, October 22, 2008, at about 9:30 pm EDT, which is approximately when we got to our furrever home last year.

In other news, tomorrow is Mom and Dad’s anniversary. I hope that they don’t get all mushy and kissy, and expect us to give them kissies. Yuk!

We thought that you might like to meet our cousins.

When Aunt Patty and Uncle Chris got married this summer, they became a blended family.  Sort of like the Brady Bunch.  They all live in Meowssouri now.

Rainbow and Muse are girl kitties who have lived with Aunt Patty for several years, adopted from a shelter.  Rainbow is a calico kitty, and Muse is a tuxedo kitty.  They are very shy, and hide whenever Other People come to visit.

Rainbow and Muse

Toast is a kitty that Uncle Chris was fostering, and just couldn’t part with.  She is a calico kitty who has extra toesies.  Here is Toast checking out Rainbow’s Gizzy Quilt.

Toast

Several months after adopting Toast, an urgent request for a foster home went out to the rescue group that Uncle Chris was part of.  That’s how Cinnamon joined the fambly.  Cinnamon is a gorgeous ginger Big Man Cat.  Uncle Chris calls Cinnamon “The Cat Ambassador” because he is so friendly.

Cinnamon Big Man Cat

And Bruiser is a woofie that Uncle Chris and Aunt Patty used to visit at the shelter.  Aunt Patty and Uncle Chris were both happy and sad when Bruiser got adopted.  But the lady who adopted him became sick, and wanted someone to take care of him.  So that’s how Bruiser joined the fambly.

Bruiser

Bruiser is a beagle – basset hound mix.  He is very gentle, and (ahem) a bit overweight.  Aunt Patty and Uncle Chris take him for walks to help him lose weight.  Bruiser has lost almost 5 pounds since joining their fambly.

When Aunt Patty and Uncle Chris moved to Meowssouri this summer, Rainbow, Muse, and Bruiser met Cinnamon and Toast for the first time.  There was some hissing and fur flying amongst the kitties.  According to Aunt Patty, the kitties are still working things out amongst themselves.

So those are our cousins!  We hope you enjoyed meeting them!

last weekend, mommy and daddy were flirting with other kitties!  woofies, too!  we know for sure, as we have both photographic and sniffologic evidence.

i guess there was an “adoptathon” at the local petsmart.  so mommy and daddy agreed to help out, because they volunteer with paws.  paws is the animal rescue group that saved us furry bambinos, and helped us find our furrever home.  paws was one of the organizations at the event.

here is some of the photographics evidence: exhibit a: mommy cuddling a tuxie kitty!

Mommy flirts with another tuxedo. Boo hoo!

and this is a tiny baby kitten that a nice man found in his back yard, in the dark, in the rain.  the kitty somehow got separated from his mommy.  mommy said that the kitten was only about two weeks old. gail, another paws volunteer, is holding the tiny baby kitten.

See the little kitty!

so the nice man went to petsmart to get “kmr”, which is kitten milk replacer.  kmr is a powder that you mix up with warm water and bottle feed to tiny baby kitties.

Kitten Milk Replacer

so here is exhibit b: mommy helping gail bottle feed the tiny baby kitty. that’s mommy’s left hand holding the tiny baby kitten’s chin to the bottle.

kitty gets bottle feeded

this is a close up of the tiny baby kitty.

Awwwwwwwww

this is a “pile o’ kittens”. can you tell how many there are?

Pile O Kittens

and here is photographic evidence of the sniffologic evidence i hinted at.  when mommy and daddy came home that afternoon, they were COVERED IN OTHER KITTIES’ FUR and they SMELLED OF OTHER KITTIES!!!

We smell other kitties!

I smell another kitty!

sigh, those kitties sure are cute, though.  and i really hope that they find their furrever homes soon!  i just hope that mommy and daddy don’t have any ideas of replacing us!

to thank aunt deb for taking such good care of us while mommy and daddy were away, mommy decided to get a thank you gift for aunt deb.

mommy knows that aunt deb really enjoys reading and visiting her favorite bookstore, joseph-beth booksellers, so mommy got aunt deb a gift card for that store. so far, so good.

while mommy and daddy were in meowssouri, they visited the university bookstore and bought a stuffed tiger for aunt deb. tigers are very important in meowssouri. something about being the mascot. in this  picture, the tiger mom got for aunt deb is on the right. again, so far, so good.

but then mommy went and gave aunt deb the common cold! all right, it was a stuffed animal version. it is the creepy looking blue thing sitting next to the tiger in the above photo. i hope the tiger didn’t catch the cold!

personally, i thought that the common cold gift was actually rude. and kind of gross. (apparently, aunt patty agreed with me.)

but mommy said that aunt deb (gasp!) loved the common cold. maybe aunt deb has a weird sense of humor, too.

Mom Here: Actually, several months ago, Deb was the one who emailed me the web site link about the “Giant Microbes”. They are beanie baby sized plush toys, made to look like what the microbes appear like under a microscope. Well, except for the eyes. They were originally intended to be a learning tool. I think they’re a scream, and I forwarded the link to other friends who either studied bio and/or who have a similar sense of humor.

The University of Missouri Bookstore had Giant Microbes for sale in their medical section. I bought a “Common Cold” for myself, as well as a “Bookworm”.
