happy new year efurryone!

daddy and mommy are home again today, and they are busy in the kitchen. as max the psychokitty would say, there are all sorts of real live fresh dead things in the refrigerator.

things like choreeeeeezo (that’s how mommy says it.  daddy says its spelled chorizo.):

Spanish sausage, chorizo

and scallops:

Scallops for the Bambinos!

there are also clams:

 Clams for the Bambinos!

and shrimpies:

Seafood for the Bambinos

and of course, chicken boobs:

Chicken for the Bambinos!

my brother wanted to help verify that the scallops were good, but he got too close to the flashy box.

 Panda sniffs the scallops

so he just tried to do a refrigerator inspection instead …

Panda Bear in the Refrigerator!

daddy gave us some shrimpies just for us to eat.

Shrimpies for the Bambinos!

he ground them up and made them easier to eat for us, and here’s what we thought of them:

Shrimpies not so tasty after all

the photo doesn’t tell the real story.  actually, padre was just sniffing it.  he didn’t actually eat any EITHER.

maybe mommy and daddy didn’t know how to make it right.  max raves about real live fresh dead shrimp, but it just didn’t do anything for me.

daddy and mommy had all these ingredients because they were making something called pie-ay-uh.  it sounded spanish, but i did not know how to spell pie-ay-uh, so i asked padre, since he is fluent in spanish. padre told me that you spell it “paella”.

daddy has his mommy’s recipe to make paella. it is a puerto rican/spanish/medituhrainian dish with rice and lots of fishies in it. daddy’s daddy is from puerto rico, and daddy’s mommy makes a really tasty paella (at least daddy and mommy think so). we will post gramma’s recipe for paella at the end of this post.  this was the final result:

Paella for the Bambinos!

we weren’t allowed to have any because it has onions in it!  🙁

ok. here is gramma’s recipe for paella. (daddy made it into a pee-dee-eff file so you can download it.)

So far there is an extremely high correlation between Mom and Dad using the Rug-Sucking Monster and then visitors showing up. So we should have expected that after Mom and Dad dragged the Rug-Sucking Monster all over the downstairs yesterday morning, that we would be having visitors soon.

Mommy also gave us our pedicures yesterday morning. Daddy and Mommy put more of the Christmas nail cover thingys on Meerkat’s and my toe nails, to replace the ones that we managed to remove that fell off all by themselves.

Around lunch time yesterday, Mom and Dad went out. When they came back, they brought some visitors with them: Miss Edie, Mr. Scott, and their Sticky Little People, David and Jane.

Mr. Scott introduces me to Little Jane

Now, I have read about Sticky Little People on other cats’ blogs. So, I was a bit nervous about meeting them in person. I did not want them petting me funny or grabbing my tail. I was also a bit miffed that Mom and Dad did not consult The Furry Bambinos before permitting the Sticky Little People into the house for a visit.

I kept my distance from the Sticky Little Girl

Anyway, the Sticky Little People freaked me out initially. David walked around on his hind legs, and Jane sometimes walked on her hind legs, and sometimes on all fours. Jane was very interested in our water fountain and food dishes, but Miss Edie and Mr. Scott kept an eye on Jane and didn’t let her steal any of our food or water.

Padre sidesteps the Sticky Little Girl

After awhile, David decided to play with us. He took the neato pink boa feather toy and waved it around and ran around and laughed and squealed a lot. It was fun to chase David and the neato pink boa feather toy. David sure knows how to play!! And he doesn’t get tired as quickly as Daddy and Mommy do.

Young David teases me with the boa feather

Apparently, there is a cat-kitty named Fiowwwwnnnnna who lives with David, so I guess that is why he was so good at playing with us. Meerkat and I had a great time chasing the neato pink boa feather toy, and Padre even got into it too.

Meerkat catches the boa from Young David

When it was time for them to leave, David was having such a good time that he had to be carried out of the house, while kicking and screaming that he wanted to stay.

Padre, Meerkat, and I were worn out by the time Mr. Scott, Miss Edie, David, and Jane left. Mommy fed us our supper, and then I curled up in a ball on Mommy’s chair and went to sleep! Meerkat and Padre took power cat naps too.

For Sticky Little People, I have to say that I was totally and pleasantly surprised at how much fun they could be. Mr. Scott and Miss Edie must be very good human parents. If David and Jane are as much fun as they were yesterday, then they can come back anytime for more play dates!

Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and Happy Kwanzaa Efurryone! We hope that you all had nice holidays with your families and furriends.

This was our first Christmas in our furrever home at Casa Cabán. First, Mommy and Daddy felt the need to take our pictures.  Mommy and Daddy made us dress up for the occasion. They made Panda Bear wear a jester’s collar with jingle bells.  (snicker)

Panda Jester #3

Meerkat had to wear a red muffler with big fuzzy white balls.  Meerkat and Panda Bear do look cute sitting together on their Gizzy Quilts on the rolling foot stool thingy.  They look so different from each other, but they are siblings.

 Kittens pose for Christmas

Oh, the indignity of it all …  they made me wear a Santa Hat. (Note how pretty my blue Gizzy Quilt is. If you want to learn more about Gizzy Quilts, check out the Bizzy for Gizzy web site.)

Padre poses for Christmas

The photo shoot completely exhausted us, so we caught up on our napping.  We had to be well rested for the rest of the day’s festivities.  Meerkat slept on the rolling foot stool thingy next to our stockings.  (Mommy was afraid to hang our stockings from the mantel.  Something about a certain male kitten in the house who has a fetish with dangly things.)

Panda Bear chose to sleep under the tree among the presents.

 Panda sleeping in the presents

I slept in a basket that Mommy and Daddy said used to belong to “Clyde”.  Mommy and Daddy were all weepy because they said I looked just like Clyde in the basket.

After we got all rested, then we started opening presents!  I got this really cool catnip sock that Panda Bear kept trying to steal from me.

Panda Bear gave a good sniff to his toys.

Meerkat had fun playing with the neato pink boa toy:

Meerkat gave the DVD of Season One of “Meerkat Manor” to Mommy.  Note how Meerkat is posing just like the picture of the meerkat on the box.  Doesn’t Mommy look happy?

We had a wonderful Christmas, and it was the very first Christmas for the kittens.  We are all very grateful for having such a great furrever home!

Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and Happy Kwanzaa Efurryone!

Wow!!!

Check this out:

Mom and Dad left us alone Saturday night, and at first I thought it was because I had woken them up so early. Apparently they went to visit Mom’s family in Pennsylvanicat for Saturday and came back home on Sunday.

Well, Monday was Christmas Eve, and I was seriously doubting if we would get to have a Christmas tree. I had seen such beautiful looking Christmas trees on other cats’ blogs, but it looked like it wasn’t going to happen for us here.

But then! Daddy went to the basement and dragged up these huge plastic tubs and began putting pieces together. Naturally, Padre and I offered to help:

Padre and Panda chew the tree

Meerkat chose to catch up on her napping, so she didn’t get to see it until Daddy and Mommy finished putting it together:

Meerkat chewing the tree

It is so cool!! Look how high I can climb in it!!

Panda Bear goes climbing

Daddy got a closeup picture of me, too!

Panda in the branches!

Mommy and Daddy said something about being “glad they didn’t put ornaments on the tree this year”.  I think it was a slight against me because I think they mean the dangling things that I like to play with.  Daddy’s mommy gave us some ringy-dingy dangling things for the tree.  Daddy put them way up high in the tree so the tree goes “ringy-dingy, ringy-dingy” when Meerkat and I go climbing.  We like to try to bat the ringy-dingy objects.

We LOVE this new cat toy!  Best of all, it take up lots of space in the room and it’s all ours!

a lot has been going on here lately!

for starters, we were abandoned on saturday night! mommy and daddy packed up some bags and wrapped some objects in shiny pretty bags and then they left and didn’t come home! for a whole day!!

apparently they went to visit mommy’s family far far away. mommy’s family lives in pittsburgh, pennsylvanicat, which is where mommy grew up. they saw gramma, grampa, uncle jim, aunt patty, and aunt patty’s boyfriend, chris.

mommy gave aunt patty the gizzy quilts for aunt patty’s kitties, rainbow and muse.  this was the first one:

Gizzy Quilt #7

and this was the second one:

Gizzy Quilt #14

aren’t they beeuutiful?

gramma studied the quilts and said “who are these for? for the cats? they are too pretty to give to a cat!!” (harrumph.) so mommy told gramma that padre, panda bear, and i each have our own gizzy quilts, and gramma just shook her head.  here’s gramma with one of the quilts:

Grandma and Gizzy

while mommy and daddy were gone, miss deb came over to visit us and feed us and play with us!! hooray!! miss deb is very very nice. she let us get comfortable with her and let us sniff her. miss deb is the human mommy for miss tammy faye. we haven’t met tammy faye yet, but she must be nice since miss deb is so nice! tammy faye is a devon rex kitty with black and orange and white furs.

mommy and daddy have visited tammy faye and told us how nice she is. this is a picture of tammy faye:

here’s my daddy sitting with miss tammy faye

isn’t she pretty? mommy said that her furs are very very soft.

miss deb saw to it that we had fresh food and water and she visited with us while mommy and daddy were away. thank you very much miss deb!!! we love you!!
