2010 Archives

hey efurryone!  did you ever notice how lame our humans can be sometimes?  like how much they state the obvious?

here’s an example.  mom came up to me this morning and said “Meerkat!”

like, duh.

“Little girl!”  said dad.  um, yeah, i am a female feline.  and yes, i am petite.  sigh.

there is actually a great cartoon that summarizes this for all of us kittehs. (be sure to hover your mouse over the cartoon for additional commentary by the author.)

unfortunately, mom saw this cartoon.  then she showed it to dad.

instead of taking the hint, and speaking to us like the intelligent beings that we are, now mom and dad are walking up to us kittehs, and saying (you guessed it):

“You’re a kitty!”

sigh.

do your humans also have this vocabulary problem when near you?

Well, we are clearly behind the times in posting about the 2010 BlogPaws Conference!  This is not due to lack of interest of excitement, more to Mom’s lack of energy after returning home.  Without further ado, we will be making several posts to tell you all about the great time Mom had.  Photos: BRAD SMITH PHOTOGRAPHY (the clear photos are taken by the official event phographer), and Mommy’s camera (the not so clear ones).  We are sure it will be obvious, but to be fair, we will let you know which is which.

The conference was held in the Columbus O-Hi-O Westin Hotel.  The event was very pet-friendly, so there were many woofies and a few kittehs in attendance.  None of us Bambinos attended.  Padre and Meerkat are too skittish, and do not like meeting new people, definitely not a conference full of new people.  Cookie and Caramel do not like going outside EVER.

Mom said that she thought about bringing me for about 1.5 seconds.  Darn!  I think I would have liked it, although it would have screwed up my napping schedule.  I really gotta paw it to the kittehs who attended the conference, namely:

Moshe of Meir Cats, Chats, & Fiber,

and Disco NoFurNo and Brighton of Curlz and Swirlz. Don’t you just love their blinged-out stroller?

Mom said that the educational sessions were great, and the keynote speakers very apropos in their messages.  Over time, we Bambinos will fill you in on those details.

Tomorrow, Caramel will show you some photos of Mommy with our furriends’ Mommies!

And on Thursday, Cookie is competing in Kitty Fight Club, hosted by Misha!

Cookie is getting ready with a busy schedule of napping, cuddling, and eating.  Please consider voting for Cookie on Thursday April 22 (also Padre’s Birthday) over at The World According to Misha!

Greetings furriends!!! Mommy had such a wonderful time at the BlogPaws Conference! She especially enjoyed getting to meet some of the other Mommies!

Like Panda Bear said yesterday, there were lots of woofies and a few kittehs in attendance! But mostly it was humans. That’s OK though, because these humans care very much about us animals and work hard to keep us happy and safe.

Our Mom met Mom Teri of Curlz and Swirlz

… along with Disco NoFurNo and Brighton in purrson!

Don’t you just love their Pink Catillac? I must speak with Mommy about getting us a stroller!

Mom also got to meet Flat Skeezix and The Food Lady from Skeezix’s Scratching Post!   The Food Lady also blogs on The Cat’s Meow, a Catster blog.  This photo shows our Mom, Mom Teri, Brighton, Flat Skeezix, Disco (inside the Pink Catillac), and The Food Lady.

Brighton and Flat Skeezix got to meet each other. Brighton checked out Flat Skeezix.

Flat Skeezix returned the favor.

Mom got to meet Perfectly Parker’s Mom, Helen! Mom sat with The Food Lady and Parker’s Mom at lunch. Mom said that they had a great time talking and laughing, and talking and laughing.

Mom got meet Mom Carol and Moshe of Meir Cats, Chats, and Fiber. They have a very interesting blog that Mommy had not seen before! Mom added it to our blogroll so that we can visit them.

Isn’t Moshe handsome? He is very photogenic!

A bunch of the Mommies took some group photos. In this photo is Mom Teri of Curlz and Swirlz, Mom Carol of Meir Cats, Chats, and Fiber, Mom Helen of Perfectly Parker, our Mom who is petting Flat Skeezix, Skeezix’s The Food Lady, and Mom Robyn of The Hotties (House of the (Mostly) Black Cats).

In this photo is Mom Teri of Curlz and Swirlz, Mom Jen of Mr. Tuck’s Neighborhood, Mom Helen of Perfectly Parker, Flat Skeezix, Skeezix’s The Food Lady, Baby Patches’ Momma Salina of Nip and Bones, and Mom Robyn of The Hotties (House of the (Mostly) Black Cats).

In other news, Padre’s Birthday is on Earth Day! Stop by this Thursday, April 22, as we are planning a Bambino party!

Also on Thursday, my biological sister Cookie will be competing in Kitty Fight Club at The World According to Misha!

Greetings efurryone! Welcome to Casa Furry Bambino for my birthday party! Make yourselves at home!

We have stinky goodness, crunchies, and beverages! Panda Bear has graciously offered to serve as bartender! (ID required for adult kitty beverages, please!) Of course, there will be lots of nip! I am so delighted that you could come to my party!

Mom planted cat grass for us a few weeks ago, so feel free to nom nom nom!

In honor of Earth Day, Mom is going to dig in the dirt outside. She says we can help! It is Spring here in northeast O-Hi-O, and the weather is supposed to be sunny and mild!

Great napping weather! (Isn’t it always great napping weather if you’re a cat?)

Lots of interesting things to sniff in the back yard! Plus bird and squirrel watching!

Feel free to play Thundering Herds of Elephants! We have two sets of stairs – one to the basement, and one to upstairs. By the way, the powder room is in the basement.

If any of you choose to party into the evening, join us in the basement for Mouse Patrol! We will gather on the ledge at the top of the basement stairs at 8:55 pm EDT. Remember to keep your voices down, as we want to sneak up on the mousies!

Also today, my sister Cookie will be competing in Kitty Fight Club at The World According to Misha!

Hi Efurryone! Thank you to all of you who were able to make it to my Earth Day Birthday Party! It was great to see all of you! We hope that you had a good time!

There was nip, and naps, and noms!

Friends and fun! (This is Tammy Faye, a good furriend who does not yet have a blog …)

And we had the Mother of all Mouse Patrols!

Unfortunately, both Caramel and Meerkat took things a little TOO FAR with Mouse Patrol. Now they are both Grounded for Life. Mom says they have both earned their admission into the Naughty Kitty Club.

What, prey tell, did they do to get into such BIG TROUBLE?

This should explain it.

Exhibit A:

Exhibit B:

Exhibit C:

Kids!  Caramel is not photographed, as Mom and Dad were too stunned to realize what was happening to document it.  Caramel actually went inside the crawl space first. After Caramel came out, Dad worked on blocking the entrance. Before Dad could finish blocking the entrance, Meerkat jumped up from the washer and into the crawl space.

Speaking of Trouble (that starts with T that rhymes with C that stands for Cookie) …  Cookie is not doing too well in her Kitty Fight Club competition over at The World According to Misha.   Please vote for Cookie for cutest kitten! Contest ends at 4 pm Wednesday, April 28 New Zealand time, which is about 10 pm Tuesday, April 27 EDT.

By the way, all the movies produced by “The Furry Bambinos” are now available on YouTube.  Click to see our new YouTube channel!

Thank you to all my family and friends that voted for me in Kitty Fight Club! I won in my first round of competition against my super cute adorable opponent Scylla of Alasandra, the Cats, and a Dog. I think that Scylla is absolutely adorabubble.

My next competition begins on Thursday, May 13 over at Misha’s blog, The World According to Misha.  My opponent is another real cutie, Asia of Pet Meadow.

We are very sorry that we have not posted or been able to visit and comment recently.  We really miss you!  We want to know what is going on in your lives.  There are several reasons for this, some of which have been beyond our control.

1) Our Internet connection has been SLOOW SLOOOOW SLOOOOOOW for the past several weeks.  Some days, it is just fine, but at other times, it is too slow to load pages without timing out.

2) Mommy and Daddy are both very busy lately.  Daddy is working for the Census Bureau.  The phone keeps ringing, and Daddy keeps running out the door.  Daddy supervises a team of 21 humans who go door to door to collect information about the people who did not return their census forms.

3-5) Reason Numbers 3 – 5.

Yep, more fosters!

Happy Mother’s Day everyone!

The past few weeks have been busy and stressful here at Casa Furry Bambino, but that’s another blog post.

Today, I want to purrsonally thank all of you who voted for me in the rounds of Kitty Fight Club.  I appreciate your votes and kind words of support.  There were some very tough competitors that I faced, including Scylla, Asia, Snafu, and Sweet Pea.  Congratulations to Sweet Pea!  Like all of the kittehs in the competition, she is really adorable, and I am glad that she won.   All of the kittehs who competed are cute and adorable and sweet in their own way.

I want to thank Mommy and Daddy who emailed lots of family members and friends to ask for their votes.  Daddy even posted about me on his facebook thingy!  Mommy and Daddy love me, and they love all the Furry Bambinos.

A big Thank You to all of Mommy and Daddy’s relatives and friends who took the time to vote!  Thanks to those of you who didn’t think it was too dorky to vote for a kitteh in a photo contest.

As readers of our blog know, my sister Caramel and I are what is known as “Failed Fosters”.  That means that we started out as foster kittehs, with the original intent of being adopted to a loving family through the Public Animal Welfare Society, or PAWS, here in Northeast O-Hi-O.  After hanging out here for several months, getting schlepped to several adoption events, having an adoption application put in for me, and then retracted (thank goodness!), Mommy and Daddy decided to adopt Caramel and me themselves.  This is probably the single best thing in the world at which to be a failure.

Because of our family’s continued involvement with PAWS, foster kittehs come and go here at Casa Furry Bambino.  Daisy, Bo, and Luke are now in their furrever homes!  The director of PAWS emailed all the PAWS volunteers to ask for their support for me in Kitty Fight Club!  A big thank you to Amy and to all of the PAWS volunteers for the work they do, and for voting for me!

Last, but not least, thank you to all my blogging friends!  At times like this, when I’m feeling a little down and sorry for myself, I remember all the good in the world, and all the good in the Cat Blogosphere.
