Mom Here: On Tuesday, March 4, we got an ice storm, followed by a few inches of snow that covered the ice. Then we got the big snow storm last weekend (on March 7-8). The news reporters were calling it “The Storm of the Season”. The Weather Channel even paid some idiot a trained meteorologist to stand outside at East Ninth and Carnegie all day during the blizzard. It was as if he was reporting each snowflake as it fell.
We live in one of the eastern suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio, on the southern shores of Lake Erie. We live in the “snow belt” which means that when there is “lake effect” snow, we get lots. Last year at Easter, we got about 30 inches of lake effect snow. Lake effect snow occurs when cooler air blows across warmer water and picks up moisture. The moisture then falls as snow when the air rises over land.
However, the snow that we got last weekend was not lake effect snow. Lake Erie is mostly frozen over now, and the snow came from the south. Other Ohio cities, such as Cincinnati and Columbus, also got record amounts of snow. Unlike our neighbors to the south, communities in the Cleveland area have large fleets of snow removal equipment. Within a day of the snow stopping, things were pretty much back to normal. However, in parking lots, there continue to be residual MOUNDS of snow, six or more feet deep, where the snow was plowed to make room to park cars.

Last weekend, we gots lots and lots of snow. Here at Casa Caban, we got about two feets of snow by the time the it stopped snowing late Saturday night. Mommy and Daddy stayed inside most of the day and played with us! Twice, they opened the front door and let us walk around on the front porch.
It was so much fun! I dug in the snow, and bit it and ate some of it.
I enjoyed myself very much. Here I am taking a leisurely stroll on the porch.
It took Mom and Dad many, many hours to dig out the driveway and the-room-that-moves. It became the-room-that-doesn’t-move. This is what it looked like before they started digging. It’s almost invisibubble:
Mommy said that she could not lift her arms above her shoulders for the rest of the week. We think that she is a wuss. 🙂
Of course, Mommy made sure to feed the beaver squirrels and the birds (the ones that did not fly south, like the blue jays and snowbirds).
We enjoyed watching the blue jays and squirrels out the big tall windows. Do you like our stalking technique? The snow was so deep that we could use it to hide behind, so the blue jay wouldn’t see us.
Even though it was fun to play in the snow, we are very grateful to be indoor kitties! See how deep the snow was?
These are my footy prints in the snow:
OK. The snow was fun. But it can go away now. When will Spring get here?! Mom keeps saying that she is “OVER the snow already”.
Oh my ! that’s a lot of snow ! I haven’t seen so much in years ! Here in Belgium we just had a few flakes. Your look so cute all together looking out of the window !
I can see you all have very exciting day seeing blue jay!!!
But I love the last photo the best,
that’s our the greatest mark~~ and the best mark in the whole world~!
Oh keep warm my little furry friends. We are lucky and never ever get snow like that. I don’t think we will be able to complain about the cold this winter.

Wow, that’s a lot of snow! You are very brave to go outside in that cold, white stuff. We hope it all melts quickly! We are very lucky that we’ve had a mild winter in Munich, with no snow at all!
Somehow we missed that you live in the eastern suburbs of Cleveland. Daddy is from Willowick and Mommy & Daddy got married in Eastlake last October. Daddy says the people here in Columbus are funny because they get so freaked out about a little snow (it was more than a little snow this time though!).
Playing around in the snow looks like so much fun! It never snows here. If it did, I would probably be too scairt to go outside in it.
Wow! That is a lot of snow! I hope spring comes to visit you soon.
Thanks for stopping by my party! It was great seeing you all there. Yep, our bad weather scared me, but nothing bad happened, so I’m relieved! I hope it doesn’t scare me like that for a very very long time. I do not like hiding in the basement.
Your fambly may be “over” the snow, but at least it gives you guys some cool things to look at!
Cool pic with stalking the blue jay. I don’t seem them but I have lots of other birdies to watch. Snow go away!
we love to see you in snowy adventure! we couldnt ever imagine how does it feel, coz we never have one in here;)
btw, we tag you Meerkat for a meme, drop by to see it at ours….see ya around:)
Dat does look fun to play in! We gots some sno last week but it was like sprinkles powder on da ground. Momma no let me play in it.
Hey Bambinos,
Great pictures! Love the one where you all are peeking at the blue jay!

Too cute! my SIL sent pictures of this snow too – wild! I love the pictures of the kitties stalking the bird through the door and mountain of snow. Our kiddos have yet to see that much snow, I don’t think it did anything like that while we were still in Cleveland!
Bambinos amigos! Don’t do it! Don’t go out there! God forbid you should get frostbite on your little pawsies!
Love, Tammy Faye Kitty Girl
Looks like you had a lot of fun in the snow. We’re glad we’re indoor kitties and doggies too.
