Padre

I'm somewhere around 4 or 5 years old. My previous humans removed my front claws and left me on the doorstep of a feline doctor. The nice lady at PAWS took me in for a couple of weeks and praised my docile and friendly nature. Luckily, these other people fell in love with me and brought me to my forever home. They say I look so much like their previous cat, and I'm just as sweet.

Thanks Efurryone who could teleport on over to Casa Cabán for my birthday party! It was fantastic getting to spend my day with my friends! There were lots of great games of Thundering Herds of Elephants up and down the stairs, lots of good bird watching and squirrel watching, and best of all, time with friends!

Well it was a big busy day for sure. Of course there was our big virtual party, which was way cool.  Cats started showing up shortly after Mom and Dad left for work.

Thanks to Daisy for bringing some primo quality catnip! Thanks to Alexi from Krasota Castle Cats for bringing some salmon and some home grown nip! Thanks to the Meowers from Missouri for bringing a tray of real live fresh dead shrimp!

I really appreciate all the warm birthday wishes!  It made me feel really good to read all your comments. Thank you! It was nice to hear from so many cats on my birthday!

King of the perch!

The house was a tad messy after the party, but not to worry.  Mommy and Daddy will clean it up!

Ooops! We gotta learn to clean up after such a rockin

For dinner, Dad cooked real live fresh dead chicken boobs, and gave us some!  Mmmmmmmm it was very yummy. Meerkat turned up her nose and said she’s cutting back on such decadence to prepare for her next modelling shoot, but me and Panda Bear enjoyed the food without her!

Yummy real live fresh dead chicken!

This was my haul from the big day!  Now I gots my own Catnip Bananer!  Plus yummy foods and two new milk rings and a feather butt mousie!!  I am in heaven!

 All my birthday gifts!

Mom and Dad gave me a nice birthday card.  This was the outside of the card:

 Cover of my birthday card

And this was the inside of the card!  Everyone signed it for me!

Inside of my birthday card!

Well, of course I had to check out my new catnip bananer.  Mommy wrapped my bananer with my new milk rings so we would know it’s mine!

I got my own banana! Notice the milk ring decoration!

Meerkat has her own bananer now, so she had a good chomp-fest on hers.

Meerkat gets chompy on a catnip bananer!

And Panda Bear went crazy with his bananer too!

After the catnip bananer games, I was feeling a little loopy.  Turns out I started wearing the milk rings as earrings.  I didn’t expect to see myself like this!

 Ooooooo … too many niptinis!

Then I had to have the feather butt mousie!

Grabbing for the feather tail mousie!

I gave it a good chomping and tried to run away with it!

But, Panda Bear had to butt his head in to start playing with MY Toy!

So, I just went back to playing with my milk ring!

Finally, Mommy gave me a good grooming.  Ooooooo aahhhhh … she should do this professionally!

Oooohhhh yeah … a little lower … mmmm …. right there!

Now, for some rest to help me get over this nip hangover …

Steeeerrrettttcchhhhh

I must be really hungover to allow a photo like this one:

We really do like each other … sorta

Thanks so much to efurryone who could make it to the party!!

Mom Here: We don’t know when Padre’s birthday is, not even what year he was born.  When we adopted Padre (and Panda Bear and Meerkat) six months ago, Padre’s age was estimated at between four and five years.  So I chose today, six months from their adoption day, to celebrate Padre’s birthday. It seems appropriate to celebrate Padre’s birthday on Earth Day. Happy Earth Day everyone!

Now, I’ll hand things over to the Birthday Boy.

Contemplating the day ahead

Hi Efurrybody! Padre here. As Mom said, today we are celebrating my birthday! So teleport on over. Both Mom and Dad have to leave for “work”, so there will be plenty of fun without them butting in! I’ll do my best serving up the niptinis, or if you prefer your nip in pure form, we’ve got that too! We’ve got lots of windows to study the birdies and squirrels from.

We also have lots of great napping spots, like this one on the sofa in the living room.

All cushy and soft!

Or this comfy cat bed next to the sofa:

In Clyde

If you get sleepy watching the birdies out the back window, you can always take a nap here:

Or for some warmth and comfort, this cat bed is in the Mohawk and Clyde Shrine (bedroom where Mom’s computer is), and situated right next to the heat vent:

Sleep now, play later

We have two sets of stairs, for playing Thundering Herds of Elephants!

Up the down staircase

I am putting Panda Bear on Parent Patrol, so he can let us know when Mom and Dad pull in the driveway after work.

Mom said that they will give me my presents after they get home from work, so I’ll post tomorrow with photos!

Here at Casa Cabán, Mom and Dad have what they call a “Wildlife Sanctuary” in the back yard. There are lots of animals to observe! Today, I thought I would introduce you to some of the animals we like to study.

Mom and Dad feed the birdies and squirrels. Mom and Dad put up this gate when they open the door to feed them. So, we get as close to the gate as we can. Here, we are on “Squirrel Patrol”.

Squirrel patrol!

Here is an opossum, AKA possum, on our back porch:

Our Pal Possum!

Mom thinks he’s cute. She says “he is one of God’s creatures after all”. We think he is kinda scary looking. And he’s bigger than us, so we’re keeping our distance.

Uh-oh! Possum can smell that we

This is a squirrel watching me watch him:

The squirrell is spying on us!

This is a different squirrel taking a bath while standing on a fence post. Impressive balance!

Squirrel has to bathe, too!

These are butterflies in the back corner of the yard, where Mom and Dad planted daffodils:

I hope you enjoyed your tour of the Wildlife Sanctuary at Casa Cabán!

Well, our snow has finally all meltified! (Unlike Millie who still has some snow in New Hampster.) And there are tasty-looking birdies chirping outisde! And there are even some dainty-looking flowers that are starting to grow. So maybe Spring is finally here in O Hi O (as Parker would say)!

See, here is some evidence. The yellow flowers are crocuses, and the green thing may be a hyacinth (it’s hard to tell now):

Crocus pops up!

This weekend, the sun was shining, the sky was blue, and it felt warm for the first time in a really long time! Daddy and Mommy opened the windows for us to get a good sniff.

Looking out on the world

Luckily, there is one window pane for each of us.

One window for each of us!

On Saturday and Sunday, Mommy took us outside into the back yard. We are not allowed to go outside unless we are on our harnesses and leashes, and Mommy or Daddy has to be with us at all times. I enjoyed sitting on the back porch, taking in the sights, sounds, and aromas.

Outside in the fresh air!

Our harnesses feel kinda funny, so when we got outside, we just kinda sat still and sniffed.

Gotta start working on my tan!

We did get to listen to the birdies and see them flying around, so we had a great time!

Aaaah! Take this thing off me! Let me back inside! Help!

Except for Meerkat, who seemed to be a little bit anxious the whole time. The look on her face and the position of her ears says it all… “Let me back inside!”

Awhile ago, Kelly Cat (from It’s All Good) tagged us for The Message in a Bottle Meme. It took Mommy a little while to figure out the technical aspects of this meme, so we apologize for the delay in posting. (You’d think that someone who works with computers and databases and stuff would be able to handle this simple request… Sigh.)

Mommy talked to Gramma and Grampa on the talkie thingy last night. Gramma and Grampa said that Gramma’s Quilt had arrived in the mail yesterday afternoon. If you read Darling Millie’s blog, then you would have seen the quilt in progress while Millie’s Mom Lynne made it.

“The quilt is GORGEOUS!” is how Gramma described it. Grampa also said that the quilt is really beautiful.

“EXQUISITE!” is the other big word that Gramma used to describe her quilt.

Mommy says that means that Gramma is very happy. “Exquisite” is Gramma’s highest complment. 🙂 We are glad that she is happy with her quilt.

Thanks, “Mom Lynne”!!!

Today we were listening to Daddy’s radio show, and he played some song called “Moon River” from some movie called “Breakfast At Tiffany’s”.  Mommy says it’s a movie that stars a cat named Cat, which makes it sound like a good movie in my book.  Daddy was playing songs that some guy named Oscar gave awards to for “best song from a movie”, because Oscar has another show on teevee tonight. On Daddy’s radio show, Daddy normally plays songs from musicals from Broadway and London. Occasionally he plays songs from movies.

I guess Mommy knew to expect the “Moon River” song, so when it came on, she grabbed me, picked me up, and started to slow dance with me. Grrrrrrr. While I like Mommy very much, and I might go so far as to say that I love Mommy, I do NOT like to dance with Mommy. I wriggled free and jumped to the top of the cat perch. I stretched out in the sunbeam. Sigh.

Later Daddy told me that Mommy used to waltz with Mohawk to “Moon River”. Poor Mohawk. Luckily I made my escape before she started waltzing!
